Copper Canyon 5 Days

Day 1- Los Mochis

Arrive into Los Mochis airport and transfer to your hotel. Rest of the afternoon and evening is at your leisure. Time permitting you may like to take a boat ride around the spectacular Topolobampo Bay, the third largest in the world. Dinner will be your own arrangements.

Day 2 – Los Mochis – Divisadero

Begin your journey traversing the awesome wilderness of the magnificent Copper Canyon with a very early morning transfer to the train station. The train (Chepe) departs at 06.00 and arrives into Divisadero at approx 13.45. Make your way to your hotel (transfer not needed) which is right on the rim of the Canyon with one of the best views in the world. The afternoon and next morning are yours to explore the Tarahumara Indian Caves, where you can purchase creative crafts and curios or take one of the many walks available. The 50 000 Tarahumura remain one of the most primitive people in North America. Dinner is included and the rest of the evening is at your leisure.

Day 3 – Divisadero- Creel

Breakfast and time to explore. Two walking tours included in Divisadero: Tarahumara Caves & the Balancing Rock. In the afternoon the train will take you to the lumber town of Creel, situated at 2290m in the Sierra Madre and still maintaining its rustic flavour. Check in to your hotel.
Breakfast included. Dinner – own arrangements.

Day 4 – Creel – Chihuahua

After breakfast you tour includes a visit to Lake Arareco and surrounding areas, a visit to casa de Las Artesanias, promoting regional crafts and housing an excellent permanent exhibition together with a well presented museum on the Tarahumara. You will then be transferred back to the train station for a 15.30 departure to Chihuahua. On arrival at approx 20.45 you will be transferred to your hotel. Breakfast is included, lunch and dinner will be your own arrangements.

Day 5 - Chihuahua

Chihuahua City, capital of Mexico’s largest state is your final stop on this amazing journey. Depending on the time of your departing flight you may have some time to explore the local area. We suggest that you don’t miss Pancho’s Villa’s former home, now a museum, or the incredible murals at the state Capital Building. A transfer back to the airport in time for your flight is included as well as breakfast.
